Five Minutes with Senior Track and Field Athlete Stacey Rosch

March 28, 2008

Senior Stacey Rosch runs cross country and distance events on the 2007-08 Northern Illinois track and field team. She finished as one of the top-three Huskies in five cross country races, and set a career best six-kilometer time at the NCAA Midwest Regional Qualifiers, beating her old time of over two minutes.

Favorite Type of Music - Country, but I'll listen to anything.

Favorite Sports Movie - Happy Gilmore, it's a very inspirational story.

Favorite TV Show - Friends and Grey's Anatomy

Best Sporting Event I've Ever Attended - A Cubs/White Sox game when the Cubs won during extra innings. It was awesome; I was sitting in the bleachers.

Favorite Pro Sports Team - The Chicago Bears

Place I'd Like To Visit - I'd love to travel all over Europe, especially to Germany and Ireland.

Magazine Cover I'd Like To Be On - Self, because it promotes a good personal image.

My Biggest Fear - Spiders

Most People Don't Know This - I'm a pretty candid person, most people know a lot about me.

Most Famous Person I've Ever Met - Barack Obama

If I Didn't Run College Track I Would - I'd have to keep myself busy somehow! I'd probably have a job on campus and I'd run the Chicago Marathon or do triathlons.

Who Has Had the Greatest Impact on My Life - My parents because I know I can go to them for anything. They are the people I get all my advice from, and I've learned everything in my life from them.

One Thing I Wish I Were Better At - I really wish I could play an instrument.

If I had $1 billion I would - Travel for a few years, but I'd probably end up just going back to work. Otherwise what would I do with my life? I'd be bored.

Favorite Website - Facebook.com, of course.

My Most Prized Possession - A nursing pin that belonged to my Great Aunt. She received it when she graduated from nursing school in 1943, and she gave it to me before I left for college.

My First Memory of Track and Field - In seventh grade I was the alternate for the 4x400 relay team, they needed me to run and we got first place. I was so excited.

My Best Non-Athletic Talent - I'm awesome at any original old-school Nintendo game.

Pre-Meet Rituals - I usually make sure I have pasta and drink lots of water. I try to have a calm, focused night.

Best Advice From A Coach - My high school coach, Bud Swanson, told me "at the end of a race the deciding factor isn't your legs, it's your heart."

Where do you see yourself in 10 years - I've received my master's degree and have a comfortable job. Hopefully I'll be starting a family too.

Favorite DeKalb restaurant - Can I have one for every category? Eduardo's for Mexican, The Great Wall Lunch Buffet for Chinese, and Egg Haven for breakfast.

Favorite Quote - Live the life you love, love the life you live.

Parting Words - Enjoy college because it flies by. Don't forget to stop and take time to enjoy it.

Looking back on the last four years - If I could do it all over again, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
