March 5, 2007 DeKalb, Ill. - Huskies gymnast Jody Yednock was named the Co-Women's Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of February 12 through February 18, 2007. She shared the honor with Eastern Michigan swimmer Madeleine Pilchard. Yednock is the second Huskie and first female to win the award this year for NIU. Soccer player Joe Zimka won the award for the week of October 30 - November 5, 2006. Yednock is a senior mathematics major with a 4.00 G.P.A. from West Chicago, IL (West Chicago). Yednock tallied her best score of the year, and the best score by any Huskies gymnast in 2007, on the uneven parallel bars while leading NIU's bars contingent to its top team score on that event in the Huskies' 197.000-193.525 loss to Denver on Saturday, February 24, 2007. She recorded a 9.850 to tie for third place on bars. She also scored a season high 9.700 on the balance beam as the Northern Illinois "beam team" set a new season high on that event as well. This past weekend, Yednock took first place in the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.850 in NIU's 194.375 to 193.250 win over Eastern Michigan. Yednock and the Huskies return to action March 11, 2007 with a dual meet at Western Michigan. NIU's final home meet of the year is the State of Illinois Championships on March 25, 2007 at the Convocation Center.
