Prep: Trained at Naperville Gymnastics Club, as well as Aerial Gymnastics in Downers Grove, Ill., where she competed in Level 9 competition for two years. Began her high school career by taking first place in the vault, floor exercise, and all-around competitions at state. Earned scores of 9.65 for the vault and floor at regional competition, as well as a 9.575 score for the floor exercise at state meet her freshman year. Placed second in the bars at regionals and nationals as a sophomore. Her junior year, was the runner-up on the bars at the regional and national meets, and took first at state competition on bars her junior year.

Personal: Daughter of Rich Tanaka and Amy Orlando. Born Nov. 1, 1989 in Peoria, Ill. Undecided on her major, but is considering a degree in nutrition.
