NIU Career Bests: Vault - 9.850 Beam - 9.875 Floor - 9.850

2007: Competed in all twelve meets for the Huskies in the vault, beam, and floor exercise events. Started strong for the Huskies, finishing in the top 10 in every event for the first three meets. Earned third-place for the vault, second-place for the bars, and sixth-place for the floor exercise with scores of 9.725, 9.650, and 9.275, respectively versus M.I.T. and Wisconsin-Stout (1/14). Tallied scores of 9.750, 9.475, and 9.725 for the floor, beam, and vault exercises, respectively, earning first-place for the floor exercise, sixth-place for the beam, and third-place for the vault versus Bowling Green (1/28). For a second season, led the Huskies in the beam with a team-best score of 9.875 at Denver (2/17). Tied teammate Leah Johnson for the highest score in the vault with a career-best 9.850 versus Iowa State and Illinois (2/25). After a strong performance against Eastern Michigan (3/4), combining scores of 9.800, 9.775, and 9.725 for the beam, floor exercise, and vault, Naughton was named MAC Specialist of the Week on March 5. Also earned honors as a member of the All-State team: placed first in the floor exercise with a career-best 9.850, fifth in the vault with a 9.800, and third on the balance beam with a 9.750 at the State Championships (3/25). Earned a sixth-place finish in the MAC with a 9.750 on the vault (3/31). Named to the 2007 Academic All-MAC Gymnastics team at the conclusion of the season. Secured an alternate spot for the NCAA Regional competition (4/14) for the balance beam event, but did not compete. For the season, averaged an impressive 9.665, 9.606, and 9.538 for the vault, beam, and floor exercises, respectively. Ranked second-place for the vault, first-place for the beam, and fifth-place for the floor exercise among the averages of her teammates. Scored a 9.725 or higher on the vault in nine of 12 meets, a 9.700 or higher on the balance beam in half of the meets, and a 9.600 or higher on the floor exercise seven of 12 times. For the vault, tallied 11 top ten finishes, placing in the top three in six of those 11 meets. Finished in the top ten 10 of 12 meets for the beam, including eight third-place or higher finishes of those 10 meets. Finished in the top 10 eight of 12 meets for the floor exercise and placed in the top three in three of those eight meets.

2006: Earned NIU's highest scores of the season on the vault, beam and floor as a rookie while participating in every meet on those events. Tied for second at the MAC Championships (3/25) on vault with a season-best 9.850. Recorded a career-best 9.875 on balance beam to tie for fourth versus Michigan State (3/5). Twice tallied a 9.825 on floor, versus Western Michigan (2/12) and versus Michigan State when she tied for fourth. For the season, averaged a 9.648 on vault, a 9.707 (led team) on beam and a 9.541 on floor. Tied for first on vault at Bowling Green (2/3) with a 9.800, took third on beam with a 9.700 and was fifth on floor (9.625). Scored a 9.800 on floor at the second Huskie Triangular to tie for second. Also tied for fourth on beam at that meet with a 9.800. Recorded seven scores of 9.650 or higher on vault. Was above the 9.700 mark eight times on the beam. Floor routine came in at 9.625 or above six times in 11 competitions. At Kent State (3/12), earned second place on the beam with a 9.800 routine and tied for third on both vault (9.750) and floor (9.725). Tied for third on the beam at the State of Illinois Classic (3/18) with a 9.750 and was also tied for fifth on vault (9.725).

Prep: A Level 10 gymnast for three years at Kansas City Gymnastics. As a junior, placed second on the beam and eighth in the all-around at state with scores of 9.325 and 36.275, respectively. At the Missouri state U.S.A.G. meet, took third on the vault, beam, floor and in the all-around. Scored a 9.5 on the floor exercise and a 9.275 on the vault at that event. Her sophomore season, earned second-place on the vault and beam, was fifth in the floor exercise and eighth in the all-around. Advanced to nationals as a freshman where she placed third on the balance beam, 11th on the vault and 16th in the all-around. Scored a 9.425 on the beam and a 9.275 on vault at the national meet. Won the beam, took second on floor and fifth all-around at the U.S.A.G. Regional meet in 2002 with a high score of 9.5 on the floor. At the state competition, won the vault and floor exercise and placed fifth in the all-around after posting scores of 9.6 on floor and 9.425 on vault. Two-year letter winner on the track and field team where she qualified for the state meet in the long jump as a junior after taking third at both the sectional and district meets. Runner-up in the conference in the long jump and placed third in the triple jump. Her sophomore year, won the conference triple jump title and took second in the long jump. Was third in the triple jump at the district meet.

Personal: Daughter of Elizabeth Naughton and the late Danny Naughton. Born Oct. 18, 1986 in Jefferson City, Mo. While attending NIU, is studying pre-physical therapy. Named to the NACGC Academic All-America team as a freshman with a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. Also earned Huskie Victory Scholar status during her 2006 and 2007 seasons. Named a State of Illinois Academic All-American in 2006. Certified as a U.S.A.G. judge at Levels 5-6.
