First Round Results in PDF Format
TAMPA, Fla.-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team leads by 12 strokes of the 22nd Annual Snowbird Intercollegiate at Pebblecreek Country Club. Kim Hunley (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) continues to play solid golf on the Huskies' current spring break trip. She shot a career-low 72 tying her for sixth in the Huskies' record book for an 18-hole round and giving her the lead after the first round. The last time a Huskie carded a 72 was when Nicole Jeray posted a 72 at the Notre Dame Invite Sept. 1-2, 1990. "The longer we stay the better we get. We had a great team effort today," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "Kim Hunley posted a personal best 72 to lead the tournament. We've put a great performance on the board today. We need to put another one on the board tomorrow. We need to be on our best game to do that. "Cleveland State was very kind providing the whole field with memorial ribbons they made before they left campus." Hunely was one of three Huskies to finish under 80. Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) is tied for second after posting a 77, while Ashley Lods' (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes) 79 put her eighth. Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) is the fourth Huskie in the top 10, tying for ninth after shooting an 80. Devon Harteneck (Lake City, Minn./Lincoln) is tied for 24th after carding an 85. The Huskies shot a 308, while their nearest competitor, Northeastern State, finished the first round with a 320. Indianapolis (322), Seminole Community College (332 and Weber State (336) round out the top five. The Huskies conclude play tomorrow tee time is set for 7 a.m. Central time.
