SEBRING, Fla.-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team is in ninth place after shooting a 326 in the first round of play at the Springlake Invitational at Springlake Golf Resort and Country Club in Sebring, Fla.

"We played better than in Mexico," NIU head coach Pam Tyska said. "We are looking forward to playing tomorrow. We're ready to play well tomorrow. I'm certainly pleased with Abbie and Kim."

Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) led the way for the Huskies, tying for 18th after shooting a 74 (35-39) in the first round. Kim Hunley (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) followed, tying for 23rd. The sophomore had a rough start on the front nine, shooting a 43, but recovered on the back nine posting a 37. Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) is tied for 32nd after scoring an 83 (40-43).

Freshman Devon Harteneck (Lake City, Minn./Lincoln) is in a tie for 35th after shooting an 84 (41-43), while Ashley Lods (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes) rounds out the Huskie finishers. Lods shot an 88 (44-44).

The Huskies conclude play at the Springlake Invitational tomorrow. Shotgun start is set for 8 a.m. CST.
