BAJA, Mexico-The Northern Illinois University women's golf team struggled in its first two rounds of the spring, and find themselves in ninth place after two rounds of the Baja Invitational at the Bajamar Resort. NIU is in ninth place in the nine-team field after shooting a 689. Kim Hunley (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) is the highest placing Huskie, in 37th place after shooting a 169 (89-80). She's followed by Ashley Lods (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes), who's in 46th after posting a 175 (84-91). Jessica Parmenter (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) and Abbie Many (Mt. Prospect, Ill./Prospect) are tied for 47th after shooting a 176. Anne Senn (Mt. Prospect/Prospect) just missed a top-50 finish, placing 51st after posting a two-round score of 180. There is a tight battle for first place in the team leader board, with five teams within seven strokes of the leader. The University of Iowa leads the tournament at after shooting a 624 and is followed closely by Kennesaw State who posted a 625 after two rounds of play.
