Welton's World - Entry No. 11

Feb. 7, 2008

It's a bye-week for the Huskies, so we are revisiting some offensive and defensive strategies that we feel will make us successful against Bowling Green and many of the other MAC opponents we will eventually face. I think this bye-week came at the perfect time for our team. We finished a two-week streak, in which we won three of our four games. The loss was definitely disappointing, but it put things back into perspective for us. Losing at Akron definitely proved that we can't abandon gritty defensive play, simply because defense is a critical component needed to win consistently, especially on the road.

I feel like my teammates are ready to get back on the court and prove that we are beyond the inconsistencies we've exhibited in the past. Losing is not always the worst thing that can happen, but not responding with better play when the next opportunity arrives definitely is. Everyone has a positive outlook and is focused on having an intense and meaningful week of practice. Our trip to Bowling Green will certainly be a measuring stick in terms of our improvement this week.

We'll see you next week!
