DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois men's golf season looks to end the season strong at the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by Eastern Michigan University, at The Longaberger Golf Club, May 2-4 in Nashport, Ohio.

The Huskies are coming off their best finish of the spring finishing seventh at the FirstEnergy Invitational on Kent State's home course. Senior Zach Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill. /Bloomington) and freshman Jeff Dick (Sherman, Texas/ Sherman) recorded season high finishes, tying for second and seventh, respectively. Jecklin's effort earned him the MAC Co-Golfer of the Week honor.

"We're going into the MAC Championships with confidence after having two top-ten finishers last weekend at Kent State's home course," said head coach John Cleary. "We have beaten a couple of teams this season who have gone on the win their conference championships, including Marquette (last fall), who won the Big East over a top-30 team in Louisville, so those are good confidence boosts for us."

Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill. /Manteno) looks to repeat his performance from last year's MAC Championships where he finished in a tie for seventh on his way to earning MAC Freshman of the Year honors.

The Huskies will be looking to their lone senior, Jecklin, to lead them to a strong finish to the 2008 season. NIU's weekend lineup will also include Dick, Frame, Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East).

"Zach has been our `horse' all spring and we will continue to rely on his strong play and leadership," said Cleary. "All the players in our lineup have made contributions during the year and that is something we will need them to do to continue to be successful this weekend."

The first round of competition begins Friday at 8 a.m. EDT. The tournament features live scoring on golfstat.com and mac-sports.com.
