NASHPORT, Ohio - Zach Jecklin leads Northern Illinois' contingent at the MAC Championships and sits in a second-place tie through the first two rounds at the Longaberger Golf Club. As a team, the Huskies are tied for fifth after 36 holes.

Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington), the reigning MAC Co-Golfer of the Week, fired a pair of even par 72's on Friday and is just two strokes off the lead heading into the third round.

"Zach played very well today," said head coach John Cleary. "He got off to a tough start, then had an eagle and a birdie on consecutive holes. From there he got going, was real steady and finished up well."

As a team, Northern Illinois is tied for fifth place with a team score 604. The Huskies shot a 299 in the morning and totaled a 305 in the afternoon, a round that was interrupted by a rain delay.

"We had a good first round and played well," said Cleary. "It was nice to get off to a good start after having slow first rounds most of the season. The conditions got tougher in the afternoon when the storm blew through, but we finished well after the delay and have a good feeling going into tomorrow and our guys are hungry to get back on the course."

Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) is tied for 19th at 151 after rounds of 75 and 76 and Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) is in a tie for 28th at 154 (76-78). Rounding out the Huskies' contingent is Jeff Dick in 32nd at 155 (76-79) and Alex Wagner in 39th at 158 (78-80).

The third round of the MAC Championships will be played Saturday morning. Complete results and live scoring are available through golfstat.com and mac-sports.com.
