RAVENNA, Ohio - Senior Zach Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) finished in a second-place tie and freshman Jeff Dick (Sherman, Texas/Sherman) tied for seventh as Northern Illinois placed two in the top 10 of the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate Saturday. The Huskies placed seventh as a team at the one-day, 36-hole event. Jecklin fired a first round 69 and followed it up with a 71 in the afternoon to total 140 for his highest placing of the season. Dick recorded his best collegiate finish with a 73 and 70 for a total of 143. "It was a great tournament for Zach and he finished above a lot of good players," said head coach John Cleary. "Jeff played great and his afternoon 70 was really strong. It was good to get contributions from some other players this weekend. I thought we played better in the afternoon despite facing windy conditions and new pin placements. Hopefully this will give us some momentum that we can carry into the MAC Championships next weekend." Northern Illinois finished seventh as a team with a final score of 739 (373-366). Host Kent State won the event. Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) totaled a 151 (78-73) and Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) shot a 152 (76-76) to earn top 50 finishes. The Huskies' next tournament will be the MAC Championships, May 2-4 at Longaberger G.C. in Newark, Ohio. -NIU-
