First and Second Round Results in PDF Format
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Zach Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) tied for the lowest second round score to lead Northern Illinois' contingent at the UALR First Tee Collegiate. Through Monday's first two rounds, the Jecklin was in a tie for seventh while the Huskies sat in 10th position. Jecklin, who fired one of three under-par rounds during the day, equaled his season low of 71 during the afternoon after a morning round 77. His total score of 148 puts him just five strokes back of the lead heading into Tuesday's final round. As a team, the Huskies improved from a 317 in the first round to a 303 in the second to total 620 for the day. "Zach played real well in the second round, even better than his score, and made a few birdies in a solid performance," said head coach John Cleary. "We played better in the second round as a team and we got more comfortable with the golf course throughout the day. We struggled during the morning round in windy conditions on a difficult course." Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) shot rounds of 78-76 to total 154 on the day and is in a tie for 27th through 36 holes. Matt Triplett (St. Charles, Ill./East) totaled a 157 after rounds of 80 and 77 and is in a tie for 39th after the first day of competition. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. -NIU-
