Derek Sisko is in his first season as assistant coach after joining the Huskies' staff in August, 2007. In addition to coaching and recruiting duties at NIU, Sisko coordinates team practices, strength and conditioning, and fundraising. Sisko, a 2007 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in exercise and sport science, is enrolled in NIU's sport management master's program.
From June-August, 2007, Sisko was as an operations assistant for the PGA of America at the 89th PGA Championship in Tulsa, Okla. Prior to his stint with the PGA, Sisko was a golf marketing intern for U.S. Junior Golf Tours in La Crosse. Sisko served as the head golf coach at La Crescent High School in La Crescent, Minn., during the 2006 season. On the course, Sisko was a two-time qualifier for the AAU Golf Junior National Olympic Games, including a tie for seventh finish at Brooklyn Park, Minn., and a tie for 19th at Orlando, Fla. As a prep, Sisko set the Ladysmith (Wisc.) High home course record and helped lead the school's basketball team to the 2003 WIAA Division 3 State Championship after a runner-up finish in 2002. He also competed in both AAU Golf and AAU Basketball while in high school. |
