Senior Jeff Thomas will be blogging throughout the season about his experiences as a member of the Huskie baseball team. The outfielder from Loves Park, Ill., currently leads the team in hitting and is in his third season as the starting leftfielder. Thomas' latest posting talks about the first weekend of MAC play in cold conditions at Buffalo.
What's up everybody, we're here in Olean, N.Y. on hopefully what will ultimately be the coldest weekend this season. The drive out here wasn't all that bad, taking about 10 and a half hours altogether. My bus ride consisted of sleeping, watching the movie "Transformers", sleeping, and listening to my teammates play this card game called "mafia". That game gets real intense, too much for this guy. Saturday's doubleheader was played on a cold, cold day. The temperature at the start of the first game was around 35 or so and it definitely felt like it. Once the game got going I think the team didn't mind the weather. The second game got kind of chilly toward the end as the sun started to go down. I really couldn't wait till Adam [Holdenrid] got that last guy out so we could get out of the cold. It was great to see both our starting pitchers go the distance today with complete games because you don't see something like that too often. The ride back home was long, but since we swept the weekend series, that made it a whole lot better. Congrats Coach Mathey on setting the wins record Saturday and to "Kap" [Sam Kapacinskas] on getting his first collegiate hit Saturday.
Until next time...
