Todd Garzarelli enters his fourth year at Northern Illinois University and his third overall as the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing, Corporate and Broadcast Relations. Garzarelli has served as the focal point in helping establish the Huskie brand on the local and national level as he is responsible for the strategic planning and execution for all marketing, promotions, corporate sponsorship, licensing and radio/television broadcasts. He also serves as the sport administrator for the NIU Women's Gymnastics team and Cheerleading squads. During his tenure, Garzarelli has helped increase revenue in corporate sponsorship (400%), tickets (375%), licensing (80%), tailgating / hospitality (120%) and media trade (350%). He was also instrumental in helping negotiate a four-year agreement with WSCR "The Score" (670 AM), one of the biggest sports radio stations in Chicago as well as securing a multi-year agreement with regional television partnert Comcast Sportnet Chicago. Prior to his arrival in DeKalb, Garzarelli served as the Director of Marketing and Promotions for the United States Military Academy from 2001 to 2004. During his tenure at Army Garzarelli helped to establish an 18 station radio network that covered almost every major media market in the United States as well as assist in a regional television agreement with the Regional News Network to broadcast Army Football. Army Athletics also saw record numbers in corporate sponsorship revenue, ticket revenue and attendance under Garzarelli's guidance. Prior to Army, Garzarelli spent time at the University of Missouri and the United States Air Force Academy where he set record attendance and revenue marks in women's soccer, women's basketball and baseball at Mizzou. While at Air Force Garzarelli assisted in developing the first ever "Fan Fest" area for Falcon Football. A 1998 graduate of Slippery Rock University, Garzarelli earned his masters degree in sports management from Northern Illinois in August of 2006. Garzarelli and his wife Leah have a one-year old daughter, Goia. |
